Ayo Edebiri Keeps The Irish Joke Going In Photo With Paul Mescal

                                           Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Ayo Edebiri's playful embrace of her "Irishness" continued as she celebrated St. Patrick's Day on March 17. The actor and comedian, fully committed to the joke, shared a heartwarming photo on her Instagram Story that elicited swoons from fans, regardless of their Irish heritage.

In the photo, Edebiri is seen sharing a jovial moment with fellow Irishman Paul Mescal, best known for his role in the acclaimed series "Normal People." The duo appears relaxed and content, seated side-by-side on an old, stone stairway, exuding warmth and camaraderie. The identity of the photographer remains a mystery, prompting speculation among fans, with some wondering if it could have been captured by another Irish actor, Andrew Scott.

Accompanying the delightful image, Edebiri included a simple yet fitting caption: "Happy St Paddy's," paying homage to the cherished Irish holiday. The photo serves as a testament to the bonds of friendship and the joy of celebrating shared cultural traditions, resonating with admirers around the world.

Fans have enthusiastically embraced the idea of a rom-com featuring Paul Mescal and Ayo Edebiri, with multiple tweets expressing fervent support for such a project. One fan page went as far as stating, "the Paul Mescal and Ayo Edebiri rom-com is imminent," while others humorously referenced Edebiri's ongoing joke about her "Irish" heritage, such as, "THEY SAY HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS… BUT GOD I LOVE THE IRISH."

While it remains uncertain if the duo will indeed collaborate on a rom-com, fans remain hopeful. Edebiri's playful embrace of her fictitious Irish identity has garnered support from many citizens of Ireland, with Edebiri expressing gratitude to them in her award speeches.

During her recent hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, Edebiri further leaned into her fabricated Irish heritage by donning a t-shirt adorned with a four-leaf clover, adding another layer to her ongoing comedic bit.

The genesis of this humorous narrative traces back to a red-carpet interview last March while promoting her movie "Bottoms." In the interview with Letterboxd, Edebiri humorously claimed to have starred in the Oscar-nominated film, "The Banshees of Inisherin," portraying the character of Jenny the donkey. Fully committing to her (very convincing) Irish accent, Edebiri joked about the challenges of preparing for the role, stating, "I lived in Ireland for about four months and I got really in character... And I was on all fours for four months, and it was really painful but beautiful as well. And it was probably the most fulfilling part of my career."

Continuing the jest, she humorously remarked, "I'm so happy for everybody going to the Oscars, even though I deserved the nomination more than anybody else because I was, obviously, a donkey for four months."

Since then, Edebiri's playful relationship with her "Irish" identity has continued to evolve, with a potential movie collaboration with Paul Mescal being seen as the next logical step in her comedic journey.
